From direct support and taking care to queer events, community haircuts, and local partnerships, these are some of the ways we try to do that.
Taking Care
Doing the work of taking care means more than just saying we care. These are some of the ways we try to show up with real support, mutual aid, and practical love.
Help Feed the Cats
A food drive for our neighbours at Catoro
Catoro is a rescue cat cafe four blocks over from us, and right now the food for all their little cats is going out faster than it's coming in. They need our help.
We love animals. Most of us have pets, we love cats, we love dogs (especially when they visit the salon), and our feed is about a third pets. So helping was never a question.
How to help :
Bring cat food to the salon any time we're open. You don't need an appointment and you don't need to be a client — walk in, hand it to us, that's it. Or add a donation to your bill at checkout.
What they need most :
Wet food is the biggest need
- pâté or chunks in gravy, grain-free where possible.
They're currently feeding
FirstMate,
Weruva,
Boreal,
Friskies & Fancy Feast.
Treats, toppers and toys help too, and open litter is fine.
Anything Catoro can't use goes to their rescue partners, Katie's Place and Foster Kritters Feral Cat Rescue, or to the Vancouver Pet Food Pantry. Nothing is wasted.

Can't make it in?
Catoro takes support directly through their site and has an Amazon wishlist that ships straight to them.
They're a social enterprise, so donations aren't tax-deductible, but everything goes to the cats.
We'll be running food over as it comes in.

HAIRCUTS AS CARE
Hair can be part of how people feel more like themselves, and access matters.
Through community haircut days, partnerships, and fundraising efforts, we try to make gender-affirming hair more available while also using the chair as a place for care, support, and connection.
Over the years, this work has included collaborations with The Dresscode Project's Gender Free Haircut Club, as well as our partnership with Directions Youth Services supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

Supporting Our Scene
A good neighbourhood needs more than businesses.
It needs art, weirdness, performance, and places for people to gather.
Right now that's Sleepy Queers Productions at The Fox Cabaret, every other month.
We sponsor the shows and we're in the audience.
Rooms like this don't happen on their own.
Keeping the glitter flowing is the least we can do.
