There doesn’t seem to be a single stylist out there who hasn’t heard some version of those statements.
It’s like we are all functioning with some ptsd and trauma just from trying to survive in our jobs full stop.

Those words are not acceptable in any relationships, so why are they so common in our industry??

Very nearly every salon is hiring.

So why are they still trying to convince us there’s no options?

There is always another way to do things.
Always another place.

Stylists are badass, capable, creative, adaptive weirdos. You can cut hair in a backyard, you can cut hair in a kitchen, there’s so very many salons … there is actually no end of options.

We’re done with relationships that don’t care about our wellbeing, that do not want us to have healthy lives and long careers.

It doesn’t matter where or how.

We all deserve better.

Ngl, I have wanted to try out lash extensions for ever but I’ve had executive functioning, stimulation anxiety and generally couldn’t get out of my own way to give it a try. And omg, I am now obsessed. I asked something so gentle and natural because I wasn’t sure about the sensory and maintenance aspect, but ummmm…I need more!

Shouldn’t the goal be to have long and successful careers and grow as artists and people?

Does good hair only happen during business hours?

Is there an outfit that makes our skills shinier?

Does faking it really lead to abundance and not burnout?

Is your stylist quicker when suffering?

Does being good at sales mean that you also have creative talent?

Is a total lack of boundaries the best way to grow a clientele?

Because, again, we just don’t see it. And the excuse that’s it’s always been that way, well that doesn’t really fly anymore. Things can change, and often they should.
